SEE THE CHANGE
After a decade of creation, WITNESS is ready to tour America. Help us bring this transformative work to stages across the country.
This Is the Moment Everything Changes
Right now, in our Manhattan studio, ten dancers are training their bodies to tell stories of resilience. After a decade of creation, WITNESS is ready to tour America. This January, everything changes.
APAP is where tours are born. Where WITNESS, our decade-long artistic response to systemic racism, begins its mission to transform hearts and minds through movement across the country.
The energy is electric. After ten years of development, we're finally preparing to share our trilogy with presenters who will bring this work to stages across the country.
February 26, 2012. Trayvon Martin. A seventeen-year-old walking home with Skittles and iced tea never made it through his own neighborhood.
Christopher Rudd watched the news coverage, felt the familiar weight of being "the only one" and made a decision: he would use his art to speak truth that others couldn't, or wouldn't, say.
That moment birthed WITNESS.
For over a decade, Christopher has been crafting a trilogy that traces America's racial landscape from the brutality of slavery (YESTERDAY) through the disparities of the (in)justice system (TODAY) to an imagined future of liberation (TOMORROW). Not as history lesson, but as living ceremony. Not as lecture, but as transformation.
This is what RudduR Dance has always been about: amplifying Black and POC voices. Taking art forms and weaponizing their beauty for justice.
The Story That Started It All
Building Toward This Moment
Each work has been a step toward the same goal: proving that art can change hearts and minds when it refuses to stay safely decorative.
TOUCHÉ
American Ballet Theatre's first explicitly gay work, challenging heteronormativity in ballet.
LIFTED
An all-Black cast & creative team for American Ballet Theatre, centering joy and community
WITNESS
Takes the audience on a journey through time and form, depicting African Americans’ march towards equality
Ready to See the Change?!
This is our vision for the year ahead:
Winter 2025/26: APAP showcase positions WITNESS for national touring
Spring 2026: Presenters across America book WITNESS for their communities
Summer, 2026: Major outdoor Manhattan premiere celebration
Ongoing: J.U.M.P. workshops teaching kids that gravity is just a suggestion
As we rise, we're lifting young people with us. We’re developing our J.U.M.P. workshops in 2026, giving children a chance to discover the joy of movement, the thrill of flight, and the truth that falling is just another way to learn how to get up.
