Scott Willits

(Minneapolis, Minnesota) Mr. Willits began his training at Summit School of Dance. Scott graduated from the Ailey/Fordham BFA program in New York. Other training includes summer studies at the Juilliard School and Springboard Danse Montréal, where he performed repertory by Fernando Melo and Tom Weinberger. Scott has also performed works by Dwight Rhoden, Darrell Grande Moultrie, Julie Bour, Earl Mosley, Julian Barnett, Samuel Pott, and Norbert De La Cruz III. His choreography has been presented at the Peridance Capezio Theater and throughout Guatemala by the JUNTOS Collective. While part of the JUNTOS Collective, Scott performed in orphanages and schools in Latin America, as well as retirement homes and other venues in the U.S. In 2009, Scott received a youngARTS Merit award in modern dance from the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts as well as the 1st place contemporary dance award at the Youth American Grand Prix. He worked with Matthew Rushing in the creation process of his newest work “ODETTA” for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Scott also dances with Nimbus Dance Works and OUI DANSE in New York/New Jersey area. This past year he performed with OUI DANSE at Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out Festival, the Ailey Citigroup Theater and in Wolford’s High Fashion event. Scott looks forward to performing with Nimbus at BAM this spring and at STREB Lab for Action Mechanics this Summer.
