Mission & Community Initiative
MISSION-RudduR Dance is a fiscally sponsored contemporary dance company founded in 2015 located in New York City, NY. Its mission is to use contemporary ballet and theatricality to create performances reflective of society. Artistic director and resident choreographer Christopher Rudd guides this mission by seamlessly fusing different styles of dance including the aerial artistries. One of the main objectives is to investigate themes of the human condition, emphasizing what unites us. The goals include increasing and showcasing original works while augmenting an awareness of and appreciation for American dance and culture by presenting both nationally and abroad. Guided by this mandate, RudduR Dance has performed original works in New York, Texas, France, Trinidad & Tobago, and Burkina Faso, Africa. We proudly count American Dance Abroad, New World School of the Arts Alumni Foundation, STREB Lab for Action Mechanics, Career Transition For Dancers, Miami Dance Futures, World Learning Global Development & Exchange, U.S. Embassy Burkina Faso, and the Arts Envoy - a program supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs Division among our supporters.
COMMUNITY INITIATIVE- RudduR Dance has an open rehearsal policy. We invite underserved members of the community to watch the last stages of our rehearsals by reaching out to local organizations. Additionally we invite students from performing arts schools to the last technical rehearsals and final dress. There is a Q-and-A following the rehearsals where the audience are encouraged to ask any questions they may have about the piece. If you would like to take advantage of this policy please contact us for an invitation by emailing Catania James .
CULTURAL AMBASSADORS - RudduR Dance is deeply committed to promoting awareness of and appreciation for American dance and culture while furthering international understanding by fostering cultural exchange. RudduR Dance has presented work internationally in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Aurillac, France, and Ouagadougou and Bobo - Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. Thus we have built bridges into the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa. In addition to preforming, we offer free classes in ballet, contemporary dance, and aerial silk to the local community.
